I’m Surprised Bill Belichick Didn’t Murder This Reporter Who Asked to Take a Selfie Mid-press Conference

There’s no doubt that New England Patriots head coach extraordinaire Bill Belichick is one of the most polarizing guys in sports. Especially down here in the south, the vitriol for the Pats just seems unreasonable. He’s a “cheater,” and an “ass-hole,” and blah blah blah blah blah. He’s particularly known for his stoic press conferences and absolutely no-selling dumb reporter questions.

“We’re on to Cincinnati” and all that.

Well, at yesterday’s Super Bowl 53 media day, someone actually had the nerve to test King Belichick and ask him to pause his press conference to come up on the podium for a selfie.

Yes, you read that correctly.

I go to bat for Belichick all the time. And, see? I told y’all he had a heart.

“We’ll get that later on.”

Yikes – I’m actually going to say physical assault should have been the response here. This is one of the rare cases where Belichick murdering a reporter would’ve been justified. How the hell do you get in that room and ask that question?

Maybe we should institute a new rule – much like the teams playing in the Super Bowl, you have to win your way into the press conferences. Only the best journalists who have had the best year can get in. All the people asking loser questions like this? You’re watching from your couch just like all the teams that lost in the playoffs.
