In case you missed it, the SoBros Power Hour is back. We re-launched a week ago after about a three-month break. Our resident film critic, Brandon Vick, hopped on with me to talk all things Nashville, and while we were talking about tipping back a bottle of Hershey’s syrup, we ventured onto the topic of me eating Cool Whip and chips for dinner as a teenager.
That’s right – I said it. It’s out in the open now. There comes a time in every man’s life when he has to stand up and own his mistakes. At 34 years old, I’m willing to admit that that was probably not a good idea, and stuff like that probably contributed to my having a beer belly that I can’t get rid of at my advanced age.
But, that was life back then. We didn’t think about stuff like that – when my dad would call after leaving work and ask what I wanted for dinner, every now and then, I’d just want some fuckin’ Cool Whip. And, chips – chips have always been my favorite. He never put me in check – he’d just do it. I could eat anything. In fact, I did eat just about anything.
So, he would bring home a bag of Golden Flake’s Sweet Heat potato chips (the G.O.A.T. potato chip) and a tub of Cool Whip. I’d eat the chips, and then I’d take a spoon to the tub of Cool Whip. I’d eat the whole damn thing in one sitting.
There – it’s out in the open now. Maybe I can finally begin to heal all these years later. See what we’ve done here? We’ve got a little #BeBetter in on this fine Friday.
LISTEN to episode #33 of the SoBros Power Hour below! In addition to unpacking this troubled decision from my adolescence, Brandon and I also go into Nashville’s top stories from the year 2020.
