Alright, guys – it’s go time. We’re officially wrapping up our 2020 Spooky Season content plan. We finally made it. The big day is upon us: Halloween 2020. I know that – stop me if you’ve heard this before – this year is going to be a little bit different, but there’s still plenty of room to find something festive and safe to do. It only comes once a year….might as well celebrate.

For me, this day means it’s time to finally take a step back, take my foot off the gas a little bit, and look back at all the hard work the SoBros Network team has put in to make this another fun (and hopefully entertaining) Spooky Season. I’ll do this little coverage recap, hit ‘publish,’ and then I’ll be on my way to drink some gin and *toxics* to relax a bit, watching some Halloween movies in the process. So, let’s get to recappin’ up in here.

If you want just a straight list of links to all the work we put in this Spooky Season, scroll on down to the bottom. If you’re looking for something to read casually, well then let’s move it right along!

This year started with something we hadn’t tried before – a beer tasting. While I learned that we definitely need to invest in some audio for “studio” style broadcasts like this, I still believe the spirit of this video was in the right place, and we had a lot of fun drinking fall/pumpkin beers and talking about our favorite fall festivities.

Not sure if this is true off the top of my head or not, but it felt like we had a TON of Spooky Season movie content flowing this year. Brandon posted reviews of Hubie Halloween, The Crazies, Cropsey, Devil, and Shortcut. In addition to that, we got two really good episodes of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast on the books. On one, we attempted to rank the greatest horror movie franchises of all time. On the other, we talked about horror movie remakes that were actually good. Shout out to 2003’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot…

Steven McCash got back to his playlist-making ways with an epic Halloween playlist – one that includes all of the Halloween classics with some deep cuts that you might not expect. And, it’s three and a half hours long – perfect to fire up to help you get through your work day.

I even managed to eek out a spooky-themed episode of Stoney vs. Stoney:

We launched a new feature this year, the Spooky Season Power Rankings. On it, I ranked my top 10 favorite cryptids and I spent hours of research to determine the 10 best Goosebumps stories of all time. Can’t wait to think of new places to take this one in 2021.

I added a couple of real life occurrences to the SoBros Scary Stories archives. One about a figure in the house that couldn’t be explained. The other about a weird noise coming from the woods. Both equally true, and fun additions to the rich anthology of SoBros Scary Stories.

I even got our Patreon subscribers some exclusive Spooky Season content this year – tipping my hand, and sharing the six movies that I have to watch EVERY Halloween, contemplating whether or not I could live forever as a vampire, and getting a couple of creepy stories into the SoBros Short Fiction archives.

Looking back at the two Spooky Season episodes of Phone It In from a year ago, it’s hard to top episodes on the Skinwalker Ranch and the Mothman. But, Rooster and I dove deep into the Hopkinsville Goblin story, and swapped some scary stories we swiped from Reddit on this year’s episodes. As always, it was a ton of fun, even if I did lose a little bit of sleep talking about it.

Of course, I have to mention Ticklebits and his effort to get us some Spooky Season content:

But, the real MVP of the SoBros Network’s 2020 Spooky Season was Brittany Fernandez. It was her time to shine. Brittany wrote five features, including the daunting tasks of recapping the 31 Days of Halloween viewing schedule and rounding up all of the fun stuff to do for the holiday here in Nashville. She took on the laborious task of concocting Halloween-themed gin and tonics, and had a little fun casting the SoBros as horror characters.

All of this, and she still pitched in on two episodes of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast with Brandon, and jumped in on two videos this Spooky Season. Big time shout out to Brittany, if for nothing else than enduring the pumpkin spice seltzer #fortheteam:
