Fucking 2020. You piece of shit. Just when Mose and I were talking about how having football back has made life feel a little closer to normal than usual, you go and give our Tennessee Titans Big ‘Rona. The covid strikes. This sucks, and I’m having a really hard time putting on my journalist hat and writing this story to help inform SoBros Nation.
Nah, you know what? I don’t even care. I’m willing to put my sterling reputation as a straightforward report-the-facts Big J journo on the line when I say this – this stinks. This is like some sundried horse shit on a hot summer day in Tennessee.
First, it was reported yesterday that Shane Bowen (OLB coach/defensive coordinator (maybe? He’s at least one of the guys calling plays on defense, right?)) had tested positive for the covid, and was placed into the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol.
This morning, the story gets a little more disheartening for Titans fans, as three players and five personnel members have tested positive for this shitty year-ruining fucking asshole virus.
The #Titans had three new player positives and five new personnel positives for COVID-19, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. Both Titans and Vikings, who hosted them Sunday, will suspend in person club activities starting today.

Because of that, the Titans aren’t letting anybody in the building until Saturday.

That means no Titans coaches or players can be in the building.
Obviously, not the news we wanted to start our day with. Things have gone swimmingly for the NFL to this point, but the inevitability of the virus catching up with the league was always in the back of our minds. I’ll keep y’all posted, but I hate to say this – the prospects of the Titans-Steelers game actually happening on Sunday don’t look too good right now.
Let’s cross our fingers for some false positives or something. *shrugs*
UPDATE (10:08AM CST): scratch that – Ben Volin of The Boston Globe reporting that the results have been confirmed: “League source confirms that the Titans’ eight positive COVID tests today are CONFIRMED positives. The chance of false positives have been ruled out. So this is the first NFL’s first team outbreak.“
No hope for false positives here.
