If you’re reading this, chances are you or someone you know suffer from back pain.  What’s typically our response to this?  Taking various pain killers and anti-inflammatories, or racking up a pile of bills from surgery?  Maybe some of us ignore it until we struggle to walk or even get out of bed.  I know I’m guilty of trying to push through the pain, which only causes me more suffering in the long run.

Thankfully, a new product known as Backmate, is now available to help alleviate most common issues associated with back pain.  Unlike similar equipment, such as a bulky inversion table, Backmate is compact and lightweight.  All you need is a doorway and you’re good to go.

Backmate was founded by former professional motorcycle racer, Eric Bostrom, who was one of my idols as I grew up racing (and his brother, Ben, of course).  Over the years, I watched as Eric achieved success across various championship series’, along with several major accidents and injuries.

Eric and Ben were also pivotal in exposing the traditional moto community to other extreme sports, such as rock climbing and mountain biking, as a means of cross-training.  This addition of strength and conditioning training helped elevate racing physical standards, but even the best athletes can be overwhelmed by pre-existing injuries.

As Eric explains on the Backmate website, he was relentless in his search to create a product that could help himself and others avoid pills and surgery tables.   After several years of designing and testing, the Backmate was created and is now available to help you, too.

Throughout my own experience of racing motorcycles for over two decades, I too suffer from the effects of multiple crashes.  With multiple herniated discs in my spine and both shoulders experiencing separation tearing, I’ve seen my share of visits to various doctors’ offices and pharmacies.  So when I saw Backmate released to the market by someone who has experienced the same type of lifestyle as myself, I knew I had to give it a try.  I’ve had my Backmate for a few months now, and I’ve noticed far less tension and pain in my problematic areas of the hips and neck.  With that inflammation lowered, the Backmate has allowed me to use its functionality to further treat deeper tissue and address connectivity pain throughout my lower legs as well.

My Thoughts

User Friendly:  Backmate is shipped ready-to-go straight out of the box.  You simply adjust the bars to the width of a doorway, then secure the ratchet clamp to reach final tension against the door frame.

Effective:  My favorite thing about having this tool is that I get to control the pressure.  In my experience, sometimes a chiropractor or masseuse isn’t strong enough to make a difference for the deep tissue pain that occurs from constant inflammation.  With the Backmate, I can press my full body weight into a problematic spot until the pain and tension is worked out.

Body Coverage:  Don’t let the name mislead you.  I have found the Backmate to be effective for most parts of my body that get worn down through injury and exercise.  I use it on my calves, quads, and hamstrings after every time I go for a run, and I constantly roll my shoulders, chest, and hips on it after weight lifting.

Durable and Efficient:  Comparing this to similar stretching and exercise equipment, I feel as though it has been a great investment.  The price point is relatively low, especially as it saves me from spending further money on doctor visits and medication.  The product itself is well-built, secure, and discreet; which is really great if you’re working with a limited space like myself.  Overall, if you’re experiencing chronic back/shoulder/neck pain then I can’t recommend this product enough.

As I’m writing this, we are currently in the middle of a nationwide stay at home recommendation, so this product might be just what you need to help fix your pain in the comfort of your own home.
