The tale of Mary Mallon, known to history as ‘Typhoid Mary,’ is one of the most frustrating yet enthralling stories you’ll read about. What’s particularly incredible about this story in 2020 is the parallel between events that happened about a hundred years ago and events that are transpiring today. Mary was notorious for spreading typhoid fever to well over a hundred people, and though the final death toll varies from a few to 50, it’s evident she likely had a hand in several deaths. But, she could never be convinced that she was actually a carrier of this infection.

With the outbreak of COVID-19 and society’s attitude towards it, Rooster and I thought there may never be a more fitting time to relive the story of Typhoid Mary. So, we hopped on the phone for a brand new episode of Phone It In and discussed this topic and how it compares to today.
