There are a ton of entertainment options out there now. Plenty of movies to watch between Netflix, HBO, or whatever on demand service you have. There’s absolutely no reason your quarantine has to be boring…...just yet.

But, the longer this thing goes on, the more your options are going to be spread thin. That’s why the SoBros Network team got together to create a list of 28 completely random ass movies to watch that might be a little outside of the box. The choices range from good to bad, from horror to comedy, from “so bad it’s good” to just “this is so bad, but cringing at it is a unique emotional experience.” The full spectrum of cinema, if you will.

We got lists of four movies each from some friends of the brand, and then Brandon, Brittany, McCash, and myself chipped in with choices of our own. Brandon and I discuss the list in detail on the latest episode of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, which you can find embedded below.

Here. We. Go.

Friends of the Brand

  • Hook
  • Joker
  • The Sandlot
  • Dirty Dancing
  • A League of Their Own
  • Happy Gilmore
  • Annihilation
  • The Birdcage
  • Synecdoche, New York
  • Sorry to Bother You

Brittany Fernandez

  • The Wedding Singer – “A Sandler classic that maybe people haven’t seen in awhile. It’s mushy and sweet and funny.”
  • The Gate – “Cult horror you probably watched as a kid and forgot about. It’s always stuck with me.”
  • Velocipastor – A mesmerizing and hilarious escape from reality.
  • Lord of the Rings (marathon all three of them) – “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”– Gandalf.

Steven McCash

  • High Tension – A tense home invasion French horror film with a twist at the end.
  • The First Time – I cant express how much I love this movie. I’m such a girl.
  • Turn Me On, Dammit! – A phenomenal Norwegian coming of age film about a teen girl going through her sexual awakening.
  • Your Sister’s Sister – One of my all time faves. My love for Emily Blunt know no bounds.

My Selections

  • The Hateful Eight – I guess (?) this is my favorite movie of all time of ever. Maybe it’s time I admit that, considering I’ve probably seen it more than any other movie in existence. I watch it at least once every winter.
  • 300 – In my opinion, this 2006’s 300 is one of the most underrated movies of the 2000s. It’s stylistic, it’s colorful, and it has Gerard Butler. What more could you ask for?
  • MacGruber – Put some respect on the name of MacGruber. It’s a very polarizing comedy – ya either love it or ya hate it. Personally, it’s been a big influence on my style and maybe that makes sense to a certain sect of people who hate my work.
  • Fantastic Four – Specifically, I’m talking about that 2005 version. It is so fucking bad. I used to stand up for this movie, saying, “it’s not worse than any of those other early 2000s cheeseball superhero movies!” But, I was wrong. I recently watched it again…probably for the first time since 2005. And it is laughably bad – the acting, the story, the dialogue. It is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.
