All Elite Wrestling Power Rankings (7/8/19)

Now that Double or Nothing and Fyter Fest are in the books and Fight for the Fallen is just around the corner, I’ve decided to put together power rankings for All Elite Wrestling. Keep in mind that this is NOT based on my personal favorites in the company and I want to heavily stress that wins and losses matter. Also, there are way too many “honorable mentions” that I could name, but I do want to give a shout out to MJF for his outstanding work in the promotion so far. But, since he’s winless in AEW up to this point, MJF cannot be included on my list. That being said, here we go…

#10 – Darby Allin (0-0-1)

While wins and losses matter, Darby went to a time limit draw against Cody in his AEW debut at Fyter Fest. The story that played out saw Cody take Allin lightly but he picked up the aggression towards the end of the match, hitting Cross Rhodes and almost scoring the pinfall victory as time expired. Anybody that was sleeping on Darby up to this point has absolutely woke up and I feel like his performance against Cody immediately catapulted him into the main event scene.

#9 – Dr. Britt Baker (1-0)

While Baker was absent from Fyter Fest, she did pick up a major win at Double or Nothing in a four-way against Nyla Rose, Kylie Rae, and Awesome Kong. Baker is being highlighted as one of the major stars of AEW’s women’s division and is featured often on the Being The Elite YouTube series. I have to believe that Dr. Britt will be one of the initial females competing for the women’s title once AEW introduces it.

#8 – Kenny Omega (1-1)

Omega started off his AEW run with a losing effort to Chris Jericho in the main event of Double or Nothing but rebounded by earning the deciding pinfall in the “official” main event of Fyter Fest after hitting Laredo Kid with the One Winged Angel, scoring the victory for himself and The Young Bucks over Laredo and the Lucha Brothers. Omega will be taking on Cima at Fight for the Fallen and John Moxley at All Out so look for him to skyrocket up my list in the future if he gets some big wins.

#7 – Cody (1-0-1)

As I mentioned earlier, Cody is coming off of a draw against Darby Allin at Fyter Fest, but prior to that he defeated his brother Dustin Rhodes in an emotional battle that wrestling critic Dave Meltzer awarded his coveted “5-Star” match rating to. Next, Cody will team with Dustin to take on The Young Bucks at Fight for the Fallen and the seeds for an eventual grudge match against former partner Shawn Spears were planted with a gruesome chairshot to Cody’s dome.

#6 – Best Friends (2-0)

The team of Trent Baretta and Chuck Taylor are undefeated in AEW, having defeated Angelico and Jack Evans at Double or Nothing followed by coming up big over SCU and Private Party at Fyter Fest. While the Best Friends like to have fun outside of the ring, they’re all business inside of it (aside from the occasional hug that always pops the live crowd). The Dark Order has targeted the Best Friends, so I’m sure we’ll see how that plays out soon enough.

#5 – Riho (2-0)

Riho was a part of the winning team in the six-woman tag match at Double or Nothing then followed up by defeating Yuka Sakazaki and Nyla Rose in a three-way at Fyter Fest. While new to the mainstream audience, Riho began training to become a pro wrestler at the insanely young age of nine and has a history of teaming with Kenny Omega in the past. As the only female in AEW with a 2-0 record, keep your eyes on Riho as a contender in their budding women’s division.

#4 – Jon Moxley (1-0)

Okay, I get that Mox’s match against Joey Janela at Fyter Fest was technically unsanctioned, but we all saw this go down with our very own eyes. With his brutal win over Janela, fans were reminded of just how sadistic the former Dean Ambrose is willing to get to secure a victory. Moxley shook the pro wrestling landscape by making a direct jump from WWE to AEW and fired the first true shot in the new war between the promotions. He might be the hottest name in all of wrestling right now and has a massive showdown against Kenny Omega coming up right around the corner at All Out.

#3 – Chris Jericho (1-0)

Chris Jericho carries the biggest name value of anybody on the AEW roster and kicked off his tenure by getting a clean win over Kenny Omega with his new finisher, “The Judas Effect” in the main event of Double or Nothing. With that victory, Jericho earned a shot to become the inaugural AEW World Heavyweight Champion against “Hangman” Page at All Out. While Jericho was absent from Fyter Fest, his bigtime win over Omega along with his #1 contender status lands him in the top-3 on my list.

#2 – The Young Bucks (2-0)

Matt and Nick Jackson have scored back-to-back victories over the Lucha Brothers in a traditional tag-team match at Double or Nothing followed by a six-man tag that included Kenny Omega and Laredo Kid at Fyter Fest. Next, they take on another team of brothers in Cody and Dustin Rhodes at Fight for the Fallen. AEW recently announced that a tag-team tournament will be starting in the near future and The Young Bucks have to be viewed as the frontrunners to become the inaugural champions. Defeating Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix on consecutive AEW shows is an accomplishment on its own, but putting away Cody and Dustin Rhodes could possibly propel them to the top of my next rankings.

#1 – “Hangman” Adam Page (2-0)

Adam Page kicked off his AEW run by being the last one standing in the 21-man Casino Battle Royal at Double or Nothing, which also earned him a shot to become the first-ever AEW World Heavyweight Champion at All Out. He’s carrying a ton of momentum after defeating Jimmy Havoc, Jungle Boy, and MJF in a four-way at Fyter Fest and has a singles match set against Kip Sabian at Fight for the Fallen. A win over Sabian would give “Hangman” even more confidence heading into his showdown against Chris Jericho but his resume up to this point already lands him at the top spot on my list.
