Peyton Manning: Potential Titans Part-Owner

Remember back when all the chaos and tumult was going on with Titans ownership? Remember when Clay Travis was willing to die on the hill that Peyton Manning was about to become the owner of the Titans? That was a crazy summer – I’d pretty well forgotten about it until now.

A couple of weeks ago, former Titans scout of 19 years, Blake Beddingfield, stirred all of that back up in the minds of Titans fans:

Well, here we go. Once this ‘1/3 of the team up for sale’ storyline starts being a little more prominent, all we’re going to be talking about is Peyton Manning. That’s not on Beddingfield – that would happen regardless…he’s just the first one to bring it up for ‘Manning to the Titans 2.0.’

Y’know, to be honest, I’m surprised this didn’t end up ALL OVER Titans Twitter. I heard the Midday 180 crew talking about it a couple of weeks ago, but it certainly didn’t blow up the way I thought it probably would have given it’s the summer time, and there ain’t shit else to talk about.

Maybe everyone’s still feeling burned by Clay Travis guaranteeing it was going to happen. Maybe people just don’t even want to entertain the idea of monitoring flight paths and keeping up with Peyton Manning’s every move.

I don’t know – but, I think this, as a possibility, is pretty interesting. I think I’d be okay with it.

I’m not the biggest Manning fan (actually, a noted Tom Brady guy). But, even I have to recognize his football intelligence. Having a guy like that in the ownership room wouldn’t hurt at all.

Now, I think Amy Adams Strunk has done a phenomenal job in stepping out and being that sort of “public face” in the community that you see in the most recognizable NFL owners. Maybe the entire country isn’t in on that just yet, but it sure seems like Nashville is starting to adore her (except for that dude at Titan Sized).

But, what would having Manning’s football acumen in the room hurt?

It still seems like this is a complete long shot, and maybe Beddingfield just fired that tweet off as a harmless thought. Again, I’m surprised this idea hasn’t gotten more traction in the last couple of weeks. But, if it heats up at all, you can bet your ass it’s going to dominate Nashville sports talk.
