I Can’t Decide Whether I Love Matt Riddle’s NXT Theme or Hate It

The WWE career is well underway for former independent wrestling darling Matt Riddle. He’s got a good program going with Kassius Ohno, and the people are chanting “BRO” every time he walks out. So far, so good, and really – it couldn’t be happening to a nicer guy.

Riddle is one of the best pure athletes on the WWE roster, and has a nice, easy charisma about him. I’m kind of surprised that WWE is rolling with the whole ‘bro’ gimmick, but they’ve shown they’re willing to give guys the chance to be themselves…at least in NXT. Regardless, you have to consider Riddle among the sport’s biggest potential superstars.

He has everything you want in a guy – he’s stone cold jackhammered cocked diesel built like a brick shithouse, he’s got the look, and he’s damn good in the ring. No reason to not think that with a little seasoning, he could be a bona fide superstar.

But, all the good things about Riddle in mind….I can’t process his entrance music right now.

What is this?

Maybe it’s because a part of Riddle’s aura has always been hearing that first bit of “Regulate” come on. That’s when you knew it was game time. Plus, it’s just a great fuckin’ song. But, this?!?! What is this? WHAT? IS? THIS?

It’s like some junky production music that was the only available song. Riddle’s about to hit the curtain, and they’re like, “shit – we don’t have anything for him.” Then, this plays.

That being said, the damn bit has been stuck in my head all week. I worked from home on Monday and had the last couple months’ worth of NXT playing in the background. Every time it came on, I caught myself nodding my head and tapping my toes. I want to hate it because it sounds so generic, but I can’t get it out of my head. I’m afraid I might actually like it after all.

This is quite the conundrum, folks.

It could also be the least important article I’ve ever written on this website. Say for yourselves – banger or nah?
