HOLY FIDDLE STICKS!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the case for the greatest trailer Marvel Studios has produced has been settled. This is it. It had everything and nothing at all. Let me explain. What do you know of the plot? Nothing. What do you know of the villains? Nothing. What do you know about the heroine? nothing…other than being so badass it hurts. But, all of this nothingness doesn’t detract from the point of the trailer which is to make you WANT to see the movie. I watched it five times, consecutively, with my mouth hanging open. This a perfect trailer. Let’s chew some fat.

Beta Ray Greg Presents the breakdown of The Marvel Studios Captain Marvel trailer #2. THERE ARE POTENTIAL SPOILERS. I’ll be sharing my thoughts of what we see and how I THINK IT COULD GO. Most likely I’m wrong, but in the likely chance I’m right. Turn back now.

We start right into the bus scene. Which is hilarious. No context. Just bam, she punches the old lady in the face. She smiles. Dun dun dun Skrulls, baby. This opens up so many more worlds, pun intended. While this plays, we see Nick Fury and a green-suited Carol Danvers riding in Fury’s car. He’s asking her about what she is. In the insufferable arrogance of the Kree, she says they are a race of Noble Warrior Heroes. Oh ok.

We transfer over to Carol’s Kree team walking down to a ship. We see Korath and Minn-erva. So her team is 2/3 future bad guys. Now, I understand most people aren’t familiar with Minn-erva. She’s a big time bad guy with Captain Marvel. Interesting to see a past relationship with them. Gives it more context and depth.

Next the voice over talks about how Carol’s life began when it looked as if it was going to end. We see a crashed ship with Carol lying on the ground with green blood in her nose. My theory is that this is a lot further in the movie possibly towards the end. You see a part of a thigh of a person walking towards her. It looks like the thigh of a Kree suit or it could be a Skrull. We get to see the person who’s doing the voice over. I’m taking a short assumption on that this is the embodiment of The Supreme Intelligence of the Kree from the comics that is more of a collective hive mind. It could be Intelligence Supreme Empress Pam’a that was introduced in Life of Captain Marvel issue #4 by Margaret Stohl. I’m super interested in this part.

I know they’re introducing a lot quick, but I almost find this the most interesting part that we don’t know about. With the voice over and the imagery of her in the crash, it makes it seem that’s the moment the mystery woman was speaking of but we don’t know. They show her being infused with possible Kree (green liquid) blood and her head ring zapped. Kree arrogance shows its head again as mystery lady says Superior. We FINALLY get to see for the first time the helmet, the warhawk, and her using her powers.

We see memories of Carol’s childhood pass on the screen. She says via voice over that something in her past is the key to ‘all of this’. Alright this next part I think will be pivotal. We find Carol and Fury in an old and abandoned hanger bay. They’re inside of a plane or ship of some kind. It just might not be something Fury has seen before, because he asks Carol ‘do you know how to fly this THING?’ So, we see it fly out of the secret mountain hangar thing and it looks like a precursor to the Quinjet. Was this where they tested prototypes? Did Carol and Rambeau (the other pilot we see in a memory) test fly these ships? Did Carol get lost and flung off course and crash when the Kree found her? Is all of this nonsense? I don’t know. Maybe.

We get some more possible memories. Carol’s standing there looking bewildered with a hand covered in green blood as a Skrull raises a blaster at her head. Was this during her first encounter with them or towards to the end of the film? Carol says ‘I think I had a life here…what aren’t you telling me?’ As she looks at archived photos with Fury. One of her with Rambeau and some of her flight wings and her broken name tag. What isn’t Fury telling her? Wonderful question.

We see parts of what we saw in the first trailer with her falling to the ground at different moments in life. Jude Law’s mystery character is telling her she’s come a long way but she’s not as strong as she thinks she is. It almost comes off as a memory or hallucination.  Hmmmm. We also get to see her in the full red gold and blue suit using her beam powers to eliminate some foot soldiers. The visual effects are outstanding.

We see some, I’m assuming, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents rush into a not-so-abandoned hangar that I’m also assuming is the same hangar as someone who is getting into a ship. Voice over is Carol saying “I’m not going to fight your war, but i am going to end it” as we get to see her all glowing like she’s gone Binary. Which is another story. The scene ends with her flying in space dog fighting. We see a back head view of a headdress similar to Ronan the Accuser watching the space battle. Is this where his radical ideals came into affect?

Ending scene is Fury playing with Carol’s cat, Chewy. For those who are interested the cat has an insane backstory itself. I’m interested if that comes into play.

That’s it, ladies and gentlemen. We know a lot. We also have to assume a lot. Which is a good thing. I’m ridiculously excited for this movie and the future of Captain Marvel. What’s your thoughts? How’d you like the trailer? What did you wish was in it that wasn’t? Let me know in comments below. Until next time, Hala at your boi Carol Corps.
