Marcus Mariota Completed 95.7% of His Passes and the Titans Still Lost by Double Digits

On the list of things wrong with the 2018 Tennessee Titans, quarterback Marcus Mariota ranks pretty low on the list. Ocho played a nearly perfect game, and did everything that he could do to put his team in position to win. In fact, last night’s game was actually historical for Mariota.

His stat line read 22/23 for 303 yards and two touchdowns, good for a quarterback rating of 147.7. He also tacked on 28 rushing yards that averaged out to 4.7 yards per carry. No turnovers either. Yes, at times, he held onto the ball a bit too long, but his offensive line didn’t exactly give him the time or space to get comfortable in the pocket. Mariota was sacked six times and lost 43 yards on those sacks. That’s a solid chunk of yardage and quite a few more hits than you’d like your quarterback to take.

Usually, when you get a game like that out of your quarterback, then you’re going to win the game. Not only did the Titans lose the game, but they were pretty well stomped in the process.

The blame for last night’s loss primarily goes to Mike Vrabel and Matt LaFleur. They didn’t have a good night calling plays and making decisions, period.

I’m not going to make excuses for either man, but surely Titans fans can’t keep questioning Mariota’s status as a potential franchise guys when he’s posting games like this and the team’s still being run out of stadiums.
