THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB

2.5 out of 5 stars

Claire Foy is fantastic as the feared and ferocious Lisbeth Salander in Fede Alvarez’s continuation of Stieg Larsson’s favorite tattooed heroine hacker. She’s unstoppable in an unfortunately routine action movie where intrigue and mystification is swapped out for nuclear weapons and family drama. It’s not hard to see the most compelling components are mostly missing in this far-fetched adaptation. However, Foy keeps things enthralling and edgy by taking a well-known character and carving new scars in to an already agonizing soul.
