LOL at the News of Bobby Petrino’s Firing Breaking on His Own Show

Man, what a time to be a Louisville Cardinals football fan. Bobby Petrino just hasn’t been able to work any magic since Lamar Jackson left town. You go from having a Heisman Trophy winner, a dude who was putting up ridiculous numbers and winning ball games to absolutely plummeting the first year he’s gone.

The Cardinals are 2-8, an absolutely dreadful 2-8. They haven’t even been competitive in a football game since losing to Florida State 28-24 on September 29th. They’re 0-7 in the ACC, where they’ve been outscored by 194 points. That means they are losing, on average, by 27.7 points per game in conference play….in a conference that really isn’t that good. They’re allowing 42.1 points per game on defense. That’s good for 126th in the FBS. Don’t know if you guys know this or not, but there are only 129 teams in the FBS altogether. Yikes.

Maybe the game has passed Petrino by? Maybe Jackson covered up a lot of the things this program was doing wrong in other areas? I don’t know. I’m not deeply involved in the Cardinals program. But, whatever the case, Louisville finally got fed up with the shit and fired Petrino over the weekend. The best part, though, is that the news broke while Petrino’s coach’s show was on the air.

Petrino just can’t leave a program quietly, can he? Why do things seem to always end so poorly for him? You hear from people that he’s not really a bad dude…just has this poor public perception. But, man. As head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, he quit in the middle of the season to go coach at Arkansas. A day after the Saints blew the Falcons out on Monday Night Football no less. Then, he wrecks a motorcycle with his mistress on the back while at Arkansas. Just seems like a walking, talking bad decision.

I wonder if he knew, though? Like, did he go into film this episode knowing he wasn’t really the coach anymore? Or, did he find out like the rest of us? What a crazy deal.

Louisville is hoping for Jeff Brohm to come home, but I honestly don’t know it’s a good move for him to leave Purdue to inherit this mess. Time will tell.
