SUP: All Eyez On Me Recap

Once again I’m coming in a day late with the SUP recap but this time it’s because I was super hungover after celebrating my guy’s championship win. That’s right, we got into the gin a few days early and I regret nothing. Now, without further ado, it’s time to talk ‘All Eyez On Me.’

The Carnies (Nick Iggy & Kerry Awful) vs. Sadkampf (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku): So, we started off with a bang with the announcement that SUP would be having a tag title tournament and that muh fucker was starting right now. As expected, we got some big boy strikes with some brutal tag work from Sadkampf. But, The Carnies stood toe to toe and didn’t seem to show many cracks, though the last few weeks have seemed tumultuous for these two. Still, the submission work from Dom and Ku was just too much. Damn fine opener here.

Danhausen vs. Craig Mitchell vs. Tripp Cassidy: This got weird – I mean that’s not surprising knowing this list of characters, but damn y’all. The crowd hates Craig, but our own PoppaBear refuses to give into that mockery. He’s determined to take Craig Mitchell to Waffle House. Once we finally got going, Danhausen/Tripp went after Craig to a raucous applause. At one point, STAB showed up on stage which had Craig riled up (and rightfully so) Somewhere in this fever dream of a match, Craig got the pinfall. We’re left with more questions than answers including “Who is STAB?” and “What does he or she want with Craig Mitchell?”

Cabana Man Dan vs. Zach Thomas: It’s a known fact that CMD is a favorite at SoBros HQ, but more importantly, he’s a favorite at The Basement East. That place LOVES some flop chops, which I don’t think Zach Thomas had heard about prior to Sunday. This was my first time seeing Zach live and that dude throws down. He didn’t make friends pre-match with the crowd which came back to haunt him when Dan had his ass tied up and allowed fans to flop chop him. As per usual, with CMD this was a good time AND our man Dan got the dub.

The Stokely Hathaway Open Challenge: What a surprise it was to see Big Stoke in the 6-1-5. Not only did Stokely grace us with his presence, but he competed against Big Perc (The Powerline theme was very much appreciated), Eddy Only, Slade Porter, Rockin Rivera and Chase Oliver. It was a bold strategy and it led to Stoke getting lit the fuck up right away by literally everyone else in the match. This had a lot going on but ended up being fun as hell. Not only does Stokely survive but he wins and moves on to his next Open Challenge.

O’Shay Edwards vs. Gary Jay- This is everything I wanted it to be and then some y’all. Without a doubt my favorite match of the night behind the main event which is saying something on this card. I mean it was a fucking fight with O’Shay squeaking out a win over a very, very game Gary Jay – watch this match asap.

Brick Kat (Allie Kat & Mr. Brickster) vs. The Jocks (Teddy King & Jaden Newman): I absolutely love what SUP has going with Brick and Teddy. I lost count of how many “Brick by Brick” chants we heard and never had to start a “Teddy” chant count so there you go. On top of these two we get the excellent additions of Allie Kat and JV Newman. Brick Kat was as awesome as expected and got a hard fought win though it sounds like Brick and the Jocks still have unfinished business.

Jake Parnell vs. Daniel Makabe: Much like O’Shay/Gary Jay this was a slobberknocker and a half. This was a hell of a showing for Makabe against the Warhorse. At one point, Parnell hit a gnarly double stomp from the stage to a prone Makabe. It was awesome, but Jake picks up a hard fought win. Really looking forward to seeing what 2019 holds for Parnell at SUP.

Bonestorm Championship Match- Marko Stunt (c) vs. Brett Ison: This got cracking right away with Marko needing to get after The Pitbull to make up for the much discussed size difference. Marko threw everything at Brett. Marko delivered upwards of ten consecutive knees/kicks and three 450s. It wasn’t enough. Brett caps off his brilliant 2018 by hitting Street Justice twice to secure the Bonestorm Championship. Post match Brett smashed a congratulatory O’Shay Edwards before calling out Nick Fucking Gage. LFG.

That’s a wrap on Southern Underground Pro in 2018. I just want to shout out the SUP crew and the familiar Basement East faces for making #SUPsunday the best day of the month. We’ll see you on January 20th.
