HOLY KILLER ROBOTS!

This week, I’m covering the shenanigans out at Stark Unlimited

Marvel Comics brings you TONY STARK : IRON MAN, ISSUE #4

Tony! (Laugh track) (queue up a Stark grin) This is a great issue. Fun, imaginative, throws to the future, and throws to the past. Dan Slott is continuing to crank out hit after hit. I cannot think of a single part I felt the issue fell short on.
We find Tony, even in his new ‘self-made man’ body, can’t stop tinkering with dangerous things. He’s attempting to and successfully linking his brain to his assistant and pseudo boss Jocosta. They can see each other’s days replay through the others POV. Whoa. Jocasta is a creation of Ultron to be his bride in older story lines. Her brain waves are mapped on, you guessed it, Janet van Dyne. When Janet arrives to compare brain wave updates, Jocosta is still hooked up to Tony’s brain and all the monitors in the room start playing classic Tony / Janet stories and memories. Jocosta mentions how interesting it is and makes mention to a folder found in Tony’s memories called “avengers file 224.” Classic throw to a love interest story line between the two. Damn Dan Slott.
The main story line of the issue is two AI’s talking and creating a dating app, of course with evil intentions. The app matches you up with just the perfect match. Scary stuff considering the world we have today. More and more people are using the app at SU because, well, no one knows how to leave work and have a life. Over the course of the issue, more ‘dates’ show up at Stark Unlimited to eat lunch for dates with people that work there. BAM! EVIL ROBOTS! The AIs are trying to steal Stark tech by way of subterfuge. Brilliant. Sorry for them Stark has the best head of security, or so you think. For Jocosta’s sake, Tony, Janet and the team “humanly” stops the killer robots, from well, killing everyone and getting away with all the Stark tech.
Roll after credits scene, head of security is heading home for the night and finds an image inducer in her locker. dun dun dun. It’s tying in with a side side side side story from the first three issues. Still interesting and quite fun.
Roll after after credits scene, Tony and Janet are on the couch enjoying the evening and sharing a kiss. Perfect ending to a date.
Lots of story lines for the future. But most importantly, the story in the here and now is fun and creative. I’m over every issue being global destruction in every comic. Real life stories but with superhero problems. Oh and fun tidbit from the comic which I’m sure will be issued later, TONY’S MOM IS NOT HIS BIRTH MOM. BIRTH MOM IS AN EX-AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D..
