The Dean Ambrose Heel Turn Finally Happened and Boy Are We All Emotional

What a night for the blood pressure. It’s been a minute since I’ve tuned in to Monday Night Raw, but man – I am so glad I did last night. The show opened with an emotional Roman Reigns announcing he’d have to forfeit the Universal Championship due to his leukemia returning. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins met him out on the ramp, tears were shed, and the trio stood in their famous Shield pose. Corey Graves was getting choked up on commentary, and suddenly, it’s getting a little dusty in here. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

It came as a shock to us all.

Honestly, it kinda made it hard to recover and refocus the rest of the night. But, we had a big time Raw Tag Team Championship match on deck as Ambrose and Rollins took on Drew McIintyre and Dolph Ziggler with the straps on the line. Braun Strowman was running around wreaking havoc all night. It was just a lot to process. Sensory overload, if you will.

But, when it came time for the main event, the action delivered. It was fast and furious – good old fashioned tag team wrestling. Strowman came out and ran interference, allowing Rollins to pick up the win. We have new Raw Tag Team CHAMPS and the fans get to go home happy!

Given the way the night started, I figured this was the height of our evening…Reigns announcing his hiatus, we’re all crying, Ambrose and Rollins get the tag titles on the same night, we’re all crying even more. Pure emotion, but nope – that wasn’t it. We finally got the Dean Ambrose heel turn we’ve been waiting on…

Can’t believe it. Unbelievable. It’s a stroke of genius, really. Take us on an emotional rollercoaster all night long, and then just when we think we’re in the clear…just when we think we’re finally experiencing that triumphant moment….BOOM! The WWE drops the hammer and breaks our hearts wide open.

Man, I love wrestling. This just goes to show you how good it can be – the emotion it brings out in people. Seeing all the stunned faces in the crowd…man….that was something….that was real, raw emotion. People were affected by what they had seen in the ring. I still maintain there’s nothing like it on the planet.

But, Rollins summed up the emotion of it all better than anyone:

Can’t wait to see where this goes from here. I’ve always thought Ambrose was a hell of a heel. Let’s just hope he gets a real run at it. Tommaso Ciampa – your top heel card is in jeopardy of being pulled.
