For the most part, I’m completely over the whole ‘gender reveal party’ craze. The whole thing just seems a bit too extra for my liking. I much prefer the good old days, when people tied a note to a pigeon’s foot to communicate. You wouldn’t know what was poppin’ out of that womb until it popped out. That’s when you’d either send a pigeon or call your loved ones and say, “hey, it’s a boy/girl/squid” or whatever.
But, all that has changed since seeing this video.

This is Houdini levels of illusionism. It’s magic – plain and simple….I cannot wait for Christopher Nolan to write a movie about this Prestige. It’s just glorious. You pull everyone’s attention one way, then BOOM – the big reveal’s actually over here and the crowd goes fuckin’ wild. That’s showmanship on a level that no one can compete with.
You can hear the shock and awe in the crowd’s voice – someone shouted “it’s clear.” I want so badly to know what was running through that person’s mind. Their mind was in such a pretzel that they thought clear powder was coming out that balloon. Like I said….Houdini….but, also, what would ‘clear’ indicate? That’s what I am dying to know.
Then, you have another person saying “well damn” like Clark Griswold’s family out in the front yard wondering where the damn Christmas lights are. Like, that person was so over the shit….just vocally proclaiming a “well damn” that would indicate “y’all have messed this shit up. I’m going back inside.” But, that was the genius of the illusion – there wasn’t a single person in that yard that had a firm grasp on what was going on.
Huge bravo for this family – they’re out there changing the game completely.
