Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, use #SoBrosMailbag to hit us up on Twitter.
Question:
Let’s talk snacks. I frickin’ love snacks so much. I keep some at my desk, in my car, pretty much anywhere i can get to them real easy. What are your go to snacks? Snacks you take with you on road trips, or if you only had room for 5 snacks when the apocalypse hit, what are they?
— Armondo Moralez (@ArmondoWKRN) September 27, 2018
Answer:
I’m going to be honest with you, Armondo. I’m not a big snacks guy – on a football Sunday, sure, but otherwise, I’m not a big snacker. I tend to get in the zone at work and forget to eat entire meals at times. It’s a healthy lifestyle, I’m sure.
But, on those football Sundays, and certainly on road trips, I will tear into some snacks. My top five snack power rankings would be:
5. Pork rinds – most people call ’em disgusting, but I’m all in on a good pork rind.
4. Cheez-its – it’s been a snack staple forever now – hearty and cheesy.
3. Sriracha peanuts – if you like spicy nuts, hit up World Market. Their brand is the best sriracha peanut I’ve found yet.
2. Golden Flake Sweet Heat chips – been on these bad boys for over a decade now. Barely a football Sunday goes by without ’em.
1. Beef jerky – particularly the sweet and spicy flavor if you can find it. If not, teriyaki all day.
Question:
How does a restaurant run out of Jack on a Friday night?
— Steven McCash (@MC_Cash75) September 28, 2018
Answer:
That is an excellent question, Steven. Of course, McCash is referencing the third annual SoBros Big Hang last Friday night. The Corner Pub Mount Juliet actually ran out of Jack Daniel’s…yes, the SoBros crew literally drank the Corner Pub out of Jack last Friday night.
But, the larger issue is…yes…as you put it, Steven…how in the hell does a restaurant in Tennessee run out of Jack on a Friday night?!?! It’s mind boggling.
Credit to Corner Pub, though – a very upset Poppa Bear and “Nature Boy” Brandon Vick attempted to bargain their way into Gentleman Jack instead, and the manager at the place actually drove up the road to buy a new bottle of Jack Daniel’s as an alternative. No word on whether or not the SoBros team downed all of that, too, but the crew was pounding ’em.
Also, thanks to you and the Mrs. for showing up, Steven – that was a great night. It’s always my favorite event of the year on the SoBros calendar, because there’s no competition going on, no live show, nothing – just us and our friends getting the chance to sit and catch up. We certainly appreciated you guys making the drive out there to join us!
