SUP Power Rankings: Don’t Look in the Basement East

Southern Underground Pro returned to The Basement East last Sunday. Don’t Look in the Basement East featured a stacked card and plenty of SUP debuts. The SoBros Network team was on hand for all the action – #SUPSunday is always a good time, pre-gaming at The Crying Wolf and wrapping up with some poutine from Rudie’s. Are you kidding me? What could be better. So, naturally, it’s time for your boy to bust out another edition of the SUP Power Rankings. LFG.

Honorable Mentions

Tough break for The Carnies – no Nick Iggy, Kerry Awful was taken out of the match early. Tripp Cassidy was left with a partner he was teaming with for the first time in A.J. Gray, and the two just couldn’t replicate the chemistry that O’Shay Edwards and Brett Ison have. I don’t expect these guys to stay down for long, but there’s some serious soul searching to do after that loss on Sunday.

Joey Lynch was red hot going into Sunday’s match. He came out on the losing end of it, but not without a little bit of controversy. I expect he’ll bounce back, but for now, he slides out of the top 10. Allie Kat had a strong showing in the Trick or Treat Battle Royal, but ultimately came up short. I was a big fan of The Production, too, and feel like they’re just scratching the surface of their potential in SUP. Finally, Curt Stallion could not make the show on Sunday due to transportation issues, but he’s still riding the wave of that I Quit Match back in August.

SUP Power Rankings

10. Teddy King – Like him or not, The Varsity Athlete is hitting his stride in SUP. After a monumental win against rival Mr. Brickster in a Lego Match, King enlisted the help of Jaden Newman. These two have all the physical talent in the world, so it’ll be interesting to see what their next move is.

9. A.J. Gray – It’s been a rough go of it as of late for Gray. He was left stranded for a good chunk of the match against Brett Ison and O’Shay Edwards. So, it’s hard to hold that loss against him. He still boasts a winning record in SUP on the year.

8. Warhorse Jake Parnell – Though it was controversial, Parnell did technically defeat Joey Lynch, and cool off one of the hottest wrestlers in the region right now.

7. Craig Mitchell – Mitchell got a huge win over Gary Jay, and even got involved in the big handicap match. If he aligns himself with Brett Ison and O’Shay Edwards, there’s a good chance Mitchell could become one of the major players in SUP. He’s well on his way after Sunday.

6. Kevin Ku – Ku was previously unbeaten in SUP in 2018. Losing a close one to Tracy Williams isn’t going to set him back too far. And, if his actions at the end of Don’t Look in the Basement East are any indicator, he’s certainly not going to sit on that loss for very long at all.

5. Hot Sauce Tracy Williams – His defense of the Powerbomb.TV Championship against Kevin Ku was one of the best matches you’ll see in SUP’s young history. Hopefully, we’ll see more of Williams in the future, and if we do, he could become a serious contender for the Bonestorm Championship.

4. O’Shay Edwards – No one is shooting up the power rankings like Edwards. He got back in the win column after he and Brett Ison defeated The Carnies and A.J. Gray. With Ison having his back, Edwards is becoming an even bigger force in SUP.

3. Dominic Garrini – Sunday marked Garrini’s first loss of the year in SUP, but it came after he was winded from a long, competitive match opposite Wheeler Yuta. So, that’s not going to knock him too far down the mountain.

2. Brett Ison – Another SUP show, another win for Ison. The dude is now 5-0 on the year. His beef with The Carnies has been settled. This guy has to be in line for a title shot. If not now, when?

1. Marko Stunt – #TheGuy is now officially #TheChamp. Stunt has had quite the year in SUP, and now he can add the Bonestorm Championship to his trophy case. Not only did he win the Trick or Treat Battle Royal, but he capitalized
