How About Vontae Davis Just Quitting Football Forever at Halftime Yesterday?

Big news out of Buffalo Bills camp yesterday, as apparently cornerback Vontae Davis just decided to call it a career….at halftime….literally….in the middle of the damn game.

Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander had an interesting tidbit of news for reporters following Buffalo’s 31-20 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

According to Alexander, Bills safety Vontae Davis pulled himself from the game during halftime and claimed he had “retired.”

“Never (have) I seen it ever,” Alexander said after the game. “Pop Warner, high school, college, pro — never heard of it, never seen it. It is just completely disrespectful to his teammates. He didn’t say nothing to nobody. You know as much as I know. I found out going into the second half of the game.”

OOOOOOOHHH BOY. “Completely disrespectful to his teammates.” Those are some strong words, but I can’t say I blame the dude. Shit, I’d be pissed, too.

How bad are things in Buffalo, though? They get trounced by the Baltimore Ravens in the first week of the season. Then, they go out and get pushed around by the Los Angeles Chargers. Their entire seasons rests on the shoulders of Josh Allen at this point, and if you’re a Bills fan that should scare the shit out of you.

The fact that Nathan Peterman started the season at quarterback should tell you everything you need to know about this offense.

The Bills have been outscored 78-23 in their first two games. That’s a -55 point differential in case you’re wondering.

Apparently, that was it for Davis. It just hit him, I guess….like, one big “FUUUUUUUUCK. THIS.” That first half went so bad that he marched right to the locker room, put on his street clothes, and chucked a deuce.

Oh, wait…what’s that?

Bills coach Sean McDermott explained to reporters after the game that Davis had “pulled himself out of the game. He told us he was done.” Davis added in his statement that he “meant no disrespect” to McDermott or his teammates.

So, he did at least tell the Bills, “peace out.”

The dude is getting a $5M bonus for making the active roster on opening day, too. If this isn’t an indication of what a shit show the Bills are right now, I don’t know what is.

Hope they have plenty of tables for Bills Mafia to jump through this year.
