Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, use #SoBrosMailbag to hit us up on Twitter.

Question:

Answer:

Man, this is bad, but the only one I could remember off the top of my head was the Native American. I had to actually search the Village People characters, and I don’t feel good about this answer because of that unfamiliarity. But, I’m just doing my best here and will give anything a shot at least once.

Cop – Poppa Bear
Native American – “Nature Boy” Brandon Vick
Soldier – Herbie Brooks
Biker – Cadbury
Construction Worker – Smokey
Cowboy – Mose

Question:

Answer:

I haven’t been in a hurricane before. Plenty of tornadoes, but no hurricanes. In 2005, “Nature Boy” Brandon Vick, friend of the site Brett, and I went down to Orlando on summer vacation. We were eating at Applebee’s (who doesn’t immediately search for the nearest Applebee’s when arriving at your vacation destination?) when a sudden downpour hit the area. It was so intense that the sky was darkened and it began raining sideways because of the wind.

I remember looking around and noticing the locals just carrying on as if nothing was going, but us Tennesseans were thinking, “do we need to like….go somewhere?!?!” A few minutes went by and the storm passed. We asked our waitress about it, and she said, “oh, it does that just about every afternoon here.”

Now…if I was weirded out by that, I can’t even imagine sitting through an actual hurricane.

As for the movie question, Twister and The Day After Tomorrow immediately came to mind, but The Day After Tomorrow completely sucked. I reached out to Brandon, who agreed that Twister is the G.O.A.T. natural disaster movie, but also mentioned The Impossible, The Perfect Storm, and The Final Hours among his favorites. Also, if Armageddon counts, then we’re throwing that in there, too. It is about saving the world from an asteroid, after all.
