Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, use #SoBrosMailbag to hit us up on Twitter.

Question:

Answer:

You know – the thing is….Maverick’s in much better shape…and he’s obviously dressed for conflict. That might lead one to think that Ellering doesn’t stand a chance. But, there’s something in Ellering’s eyes that just says, “I have no qualms with murdering you,” and you don’t lose too many battles with that kind of killer instinct. So, I’m going with Ellering.

Question:

Answer:

It’s an interesting idea, Steven, and I think I’m going to write a full piece on this some time next week. I was up in South Bend, Indiana for the shoot job this week and saw the news, but didn’t get a chance to weigh in on it. In short, I’m pretty skeptical of putting an axe-throwing bar on Broadway. I mean, the type of patron you usually get on Broadway isn’t exactly in a state of mind to be throwing axes. To me, this would be much cooler out of town a bit…somewhere you could retreat to. Get out in the wilderness and throw some axes. But, by the same token, if they do it responsibly, I think it could be pretty cool. I just hate that I’d have to go downtown to enjoy it.

Question:

Answer:

My full playoff predictions can be found here. But, in short, I like the New Orleans Saints a lot. I have them beating the Chargers in the Super Bowl. The Patriots may have the best record in the AFC this year, but I think when it’s all said and done, the Chargers will be the deepest, most complete team in the AFC. I see the Saints as that same sort of team in the NFC – the NFC North is going to cannibalize each other, and it’s going to be hard for the Eagles to replicate their insane success from 2017. The Saints are in position to be the big beneficiaries of that.

As for this year’s fantasy football sleeper, this is a bit of a deep cut, but I love Redskins wide receiver Paul Richardson. The dude was inconsistent for the Seahawks in 2017, but has big play potential. I imagine he’ll get a more featured role in Washington, where Alex Smith stands to do some good work behind a pretty good offensive line. He’s someone I was able to snag in the later rounds, and imagine he’ll be a weapon in my flex position over the course of the season.

Question:

Answer:

Whew – Armondo putting me on the spot this week. That’s a tough one.

If it’s man to man, I don’t think there’s any question that DMX is going hard. That dude is tough as nails, is completely unhinged, and has always seemed like he feeds on conflict. Like, the hotter the beef, the stronger he gets. It’s like conflict is his life force. So,

But, the Wu-Tang Clan is a group of scary individuals. Those G-Unit guys are notoriously tough, too. So, if we get a little faction action, these guys decide to go nWo or Four Horsemen, and team up to take everyone out, then it’s ball game and these two teams are just going to fight it out. Ultimately, I think the G-Unit guys win that battle, and Young Buck is the lone survivor.

One thing we know for certain, though, is that Drake would be the first man down.

Question, from Greg on Facebook:

If you had to choose a favorite (not best) movie from each of the major 4 sports what would they be?

Answer:

  • Baseball: The Sandlot
  • Basketball: Semi-Pro
  • Football: Friday Night Lights
  • Hockey: Miracle

And, as you did in the Facebook comments, Greg – for fun:

  • Soccer: I don’t know if I’ve ever watched a soccer movie…
  • Extreme Sports: Lords of Dogtown
