This Titans Preseason SUCKED

The preseason is pretty boring to begin with. Outside of the first half…maybe three quarters…of the third game, and outside of the initial excitement of football season returning, it’s just a bevvy of boring football. Guys who I don’t know are playing guys I’ve never heard of, and NO ONE is out there showing their full playbook. No coach, offense or defense, wants to tip his hand before the season starts. But, all those things considered, this Titans preseason has felt especially shitty.

The Atlanta Falcons went 0-4 last preseason and made the playoffs. The Oakland Raiders were also 0-4 and missed the playoffs. So, preseason wins and losses don’t really mean shit when it comes to the regular season. Still, this Titans team is 0-4, but I don’t exactly get the sense that everything’s all sunshine and rainbows. Like, “ahhhhh it’s just the preseason. It’ll be aight.” Though I just got done railing on the preseason as a whole, I do think a win or two is a positive thing. If for no other reason than just getting that reward for essentially a three hour body of work.

Ain’t none of that going on. Essentially, the preseason was a thing that happened and now it’s over. But, I’m not even saying the team sucks. I don’t think the players suck. It’s just boring. I have no real insight on where this team’s at that I couldn’t get from watching them practice against air – I think this team will run the ball well, they’ll play good defense, and the secondary will become one of the best in the league. Conversely, there are questions about play-makers on offense and generating a pass rush on defense. But, that was all evident from practice! These preseason games did nothing to really change any of that perception.

We now know what we’re going to get from this coaching staff during the preseason…and that’s jack shit. But, season ticket holders are on the hook for these games and you’ve got 90 guys still going out there risking injury for ’em. I don’t blame Mike Vrabel, Matt LaFleur, and Dean Pees one bit for reining things in on these meaningless games. But, I think the NFL needs to step in and say four games is just too much. It isn’t a good fan experience.

Amy Adams Strunk let slip during the Vikings game that, “we’ve been holding back.” I hope that’s the case, or else we’re in for some bad football this fall. We’ll find out on Sunday.

Let’s cut this nonsense down to two games and call it a day.
