Podcast: SummerSlam Review, Marko Stunt’s Rise, SUP 9/23 Preview

Fresh off the heels of a big WWE SummerSlam weekend, John Mosley and I team up for a new episode of the Checks and Championships Podcast. There, we offer up our thoughts on “The Biggest Party of the Summer” overall, what some of our favorite matches and moments were, and the general state of the WWE in its wake.

We throw in some NXT: Brooklyn IV talk, though I missed the best match of the night….yeah. Should this be the end of the road for the Tommaso Ciampa-Johnny Gargano feud? Or, will we see it again on down the road? Was a good match against Ricochet enough to silence the naysayers slandering Adam Cole’s work since joining NXT?

Both of us are pretty high on Matt Riddle’s potential in WWE, as we both talk about his signing with NXT and what it could mean for the King of Bros.

Then, we shift gears to Joey Janela’s Lost in New York. Mose gives an A+ recap, and we then talk about the creative genius himself, Joey Janela, and what he’s done to successfully blur the lines between fun and action. One of the names who stole the show at Lost in New York was Marko Stunt…

On the last episode of the Checks and Championships Podcast, we named Stunt the breakout star of SCI weekend. It sure seems that the rocket is strapped to his back, as he’s already been announced for the All In Zero Hour special. What is it about the guy that has his stock soaring right now?

Finally, we talk about the upcoming Southern Underground Pro show, Don’t Look In The Basement East, on September 23, 2018. But, mainly – it’s just us geeking out and trying to come up with the words to describe how excited we are to see Joey Lynch and Warhorse Jake Parnell tear the roof off the joint.
