Two Down, One to Go: Brett Ison vs. Tripp Cassidy

It’s no secret that Brett Ison is on a mission. 2018 has consisted of Ison leaving bodies in his wake week after week after week. Yet, when it comes to SUP the guy has taken the violence to that next level. After embarrassing Kerry Awful and leaving Nick Iggy slumped he now has his sights set on Carnie #3…Tripp Cassidy. Of course, these two have a history. While it’s not as convoluted as Ison’s relationship with Awful or Iggy, it’s still apart of The Pitbull’s story.

Let’s rewind to December 9th, 2016 for a minute. Ison and Cassidy are scheduled to throw down at Pro Wrestling Freedom up in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This match had the hype that comes when two guys that really don’t give a fuck square off. Ison remembers one thing from that night and that’s the referee waking him up:

“I remember the ref’s voice saying Brett…Brett…are you okay?” I replied with “Yeah, I went out, didn’t I?”

Ison was super kicked REPEATEDLY. Like, super kicked to sleep by Cassidy, who continued stomping Ison after he was out. Ison adds,

“I had a bruised face and ego…I slowly made my way to the back to disappointed faces and felt like the letdown of the night.”

This was the night Brett Ison promised he was done playing to the crowd. From that night on, he wasn’t going to be what everyone else thought he should be, but be the man he is. Love him or hate him, he’s got an elbow locked and loaded, motherfuckers.

This matchup goes well beyond the Carnies’ relationship with Ison. This is about legacy and being the fucking man Ison feels like he is, even if that loss to Cassidy is on his mind every day.

“Tripp you had a hand in the soul search and the result is one that has been embarrassing, frustrating and has inflicted pain on your family,” Ison adds. “You said on Instagram that if I come for your family, I better leave with your heads….August 5th the headhunting continues.”

I reached out to Tripp for his comment on the matter, but never heard anything back. Honestly, I can’t blame him. If I had Brett Ison staring me down with my brothers blood all over him, I’d stay focused on the task at hand. Because with Ison, it’s not about win or lose, it’s about kill or be killed.
