Here I was, going on about my writing thinking I was the only person in the United States who was actually high on the AFC South as a whole. Outside of the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the AFC is a crap shoot. But, those four teams in the South have been building something pretty good. Now, it looks USA Today thinks similarly.
USA Today‘s 2018 NFL Predictions. Which is completely off?

I can jive with this. This is pretty close to what I would predict, off the top of my head, for 2018. But, it’s still kind of shocking to see a national outlet on board with the AFC South. I’ve actually written that I think it could be the best division in the AFC as soon as this season. And, really, it’s an indictment of the rest of the AFC as much as it is a testament to the work these four organizations have put in in rebuilding their franchises.
I don’t see the Indianapolis Colts being the worst team in the NFL this season. I actually think they’ll be pretty competitive
The Tennessee Titans are heading into the season a tad underrated. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars are going in a little overrated. Then, there’s the Houston Texans that are somewhere in between. However you rank ’em, all three could feasibly be playoff teams. Regardless, when you look around at the landscape of the AFC, there are only a couple of teams that would come up and push the AFC South teams. The Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens are the most likely candidates. But, I actually like the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals as dark horses this season.
But, all in all, while I might not agree with the records per se, I think this is a completely reasonable prediction. And, thank you all for sticking around as I pat myself on the back for approximately 400 words.
