Chadwick Boseman Honoring James Shaw, Jr. Is Goosebumps City

Back in April, James Shaw, Jr. became the face of heroism here in Nashville. Shaw fought off a gun man at a Waffle House in Antioch, but not before four people were fatally wounded and four others were injured. Four people died that night, those families lost their loved ones, and it was a tragedy that shook the entire community. But, it could have been much much worse if not for Shaw’s quick thinking and instincts.

Typically, these stories go through their cycle, and it’s on to the next one. It’s the sad reality of the society we live in today – on to the next shooting. So, it makes it all the more nicer to see that Shaw’s actions are still appreciated and heralded.

Chadwick Bosemangot an award for playing a super hero on the big screen, but he couldn’t accept the award without acknowledging a real-life hero just several feet away from him. Enter James Shaw Jr.

The “Black Panther” star won the Movie award for Best Hero Monday at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards … and he thanked the fans for making ‘BP’ a monumental success. But then something incredibly special happened … so, get ready for goosebumps.

Watch the clip … Chadwick turned the spotlight — rightfully so — on Shaw … who heroically wrestled an AR-15 from a gunman at a Waffle House in Tennessee back in April.

Pretty amazing stuff here, folks. Absolute goosebumps. Good for Chadwick Boseman, and good for MTV to put this out there.

For the most part we stayed away from this story. For one, it’s heavy. And, our site tends to be a break from the heavy stuff. Two, we didn’t want anyone to think we were capitalizing on this good man’s name for the sake of clicks. But, in our circle, our private communication channel (Slack), we all celebrated what a heroic act this man pulled off. What an amazing guy – and he didn’t even want the credit of being a hero. He was just doing what he had to to survive.

Also, quick note – the man’s suit game is absolutely on point. I mean, he looks like he belongs on stage at an award show.

But, like it or not – he saved lives that day, plain and simple. That makes him a hero, like it or not – and after all the good he has done since that day in raising money, he’s a dude we could all stand to learn something from. Indeed, the world would be better if more folks were like James Shaw, Jr.

Salute to you, sir.
