The SoBros Network team is comprised of big whiskey guys. We all love our whiskey, our bourbon, and our scotch alike. It’s a popular gift at birthdays and Christmas. We enjoy a good glass with a cigar. Just all around, big whiskey team. So, we’re always looking for new bottles to try, and now, we have a new one to put on the list.

At the Spirits Business Scotch Whisky Masters, judges bestowed two gold medals on the Aldi brand—one for its Highland Black Scotch Whisky, and another for its Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. (They share the gold with other entrants.) The Highland Black has hints of heather, strawberry leaf, and lemon oil, and retails for $17. The Islay Single Malt is “fresh and zesty,” and retails for $23.

As Insider reports, Aldi’s whisky also won gold medals last year at this competition. Its rosé wine is the proud recipient of a silver medal from an international competition, and its gin has been crowned best in the world multiple times as well.

BOOM – Aldi ftw, bitches!

I did not even know that Aldi sold liquor. Much less award-winning liquor. So, wow – color me shocked!

As a child, I fell in love with Aldi because they sold these little microwaveable gyros. I had no idea what it was at the time, just that it looked tasty and hearty. I convinced my parents to buy me a box every time we want, and I grew to love the gyro. Because of Aldi, I have a strong relationship with gyros today. Because of Aldi, I know what a gyro is. Might I have discovered it on my own as an adult? Probably – but then, ask yourself, would I have such fond memories of frozen gyros? I don’t think so.

Now, as an adult, this grocery brand has peeked in to check on me. Almost like, “hey, big guy – ya doin’ alright in there?”

I am, Aldi….I am doing well. But, I’m about to be even better knowing I can get the best whiskey in the world inside your walls. Thank you for that.

This has been nice.
