Here’s a Young Caps Fan Celebrating the Stanley Cup Victory in Case You Wanted to Start Your Day by Crying

The Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup last night. I ended up at a Caps bar in East Nashville – apparently, the owner’s a big DC sports fan…so that’s a thing. About 30 of us packed into a tiny room with a giant television. I’m wearing my Preds shirt and repeatedly telling all the Caps fans there, “I’m just here for Barry Trotz.”

It was kind of a surreal experience. No doubt I was happy for the friends I went to the bar with and for the new friends who had waited their entire lives for that moment. Two of ’em had even foregone CMA Fest, after paying who knows how much for tickets, to watch the game. But, I still couldn’t shake the feeling of wanting to capture that feeling with my own team and the Preds fan base.

Nonetheless, these are the moments that we, as sports fans, live for. This is what makes sports such great entertainment – you feel like you’re apart of something larger than yourself. This is the disconnect from reality when all of the day-to-day drudges disappear. And, for one young Caps fan and his father (presumably), the magical moment was caught on film.

As usual, here’s a link in case Instagram takes this down.

I’M NOT CRYING YOU’RE CRYING! Chills. Goosebumps. Tears. Whatever. This is what it’s all about, people. Damn, I really am having a hard time gathering my thoughts and keeping the tears back just to finish out this article.

It is indeed the Caps year.
