Eye for an Eye: Brett Ison vs. Nick Iggy

Let’s jump back to April 22nd for a second. We were expecting an all out war between Brett Ison and Kerry Awful. The two have history, and with fresh wounds from Ison’s beatdown of Righteous Jesse, everyone thought these two guys were going to kill each other. Instead, Ison put Awful down in 30 seconds. It was an execution that we all saw firsthand. What’s important to note here is that Nick Iggy, Awful’s tag team partner, wasn’t there. Of course, he heard about what happened, but seeing is believing and I’m not sure Iggy ‘believes’ that he’s facing an executioner, a straight up killer, this Sunday.

The history between the two goes back to 2014 when Ison was getting back into pro wrestling after a stint in the music world.

Ison gives credit to Iggy for being a mentor to him. But, there is one instance that sticks with Ison all of these years later. During a match, Iggy stabbed Ison in his left eye with a nail file. To this day, Ison’s vision out of that eye is fucked up. Iggy may not remember this incident but Ison thinks about it every single day. This was another scar to add to the collection at the time, but now it’s a moment that has helped shape Ison into the absolute pitbull that he is.

Both men have grown since 2014, but with all the eyes on The Carnies (Awful and Iggy), it seems that Ison’s name has gotten lost in the shuffle. After Sunday, any and every Carnie supporter will remember the name Brett Ison. Ison wanted to say this to Iggy directly:

“Sunday you will try to put the wrong things right and avenge your partner’s embarrassing loss. I will take pleasure in beating you into the canvas leaving the circus with no ring leader.”

I didn’t know Ison in 2014, but I want to stress to Iggy and anyone else that has the misfortune of having “The Strongstyle Pitbull” staring at you from across the ring…this guy is in the “not fucking around” business. He’s coming to The Basement East to end Nick Iggy. I said earlier that Ison is a straight up killer, but after Sunday, Nashville will know him as The Carnie Killer.

(Editor’s Note: Southern Underground Pro’s Streets of Hate comes to Nashville THIS Sunday, 6/10/18, at the Basement East. It’s an 18+ show – doors open at 1:30PM. Follow SUP on Twitter for tickets and the full card)
