Why Thor Could Be the Dude Who Takes Down Thanos

You guys are probably getting sick and tired of all of this MCU talk, but I just can’t help it. I’m talking about it at every turn. Friends and family are probably wondering what is wrong with me (though, in fairness, that may have nothing to do with the Marvel movie obsession). But, I may have stumbled onto something here with this new theory I’ve postulated about why Thor could (and really should) be the Avenger to ultimately take down Thanos.

Last week, I dug into why I think Ant-Man and the Wasp is going to be critical to the future of the MCU. In short, I think Hank Pym and company will figure out a way to traverse the Quantum Realm and utilize it in order to travel through time without needing the Time Stone. After all, that thing’s going to be a sonofabitch to wrestle away from Thanos. I don’t care who you are.

Now, we also know that Doctor Strange envisioned 14+ million potential scenarios where the Avengers battle Thanos, and in only one of those, the Avengers are victorious. A lot of people are thinking there’s a specific reason that Strange, but I disagree.

I think we may be focusing too much on the wrong side of that happening. It’s possible that it’s not as important that Stark was saved as it was that Thanos acquired the Time Stone. Scenarios are largely contingent upon the choices that individuals make. Think about it – it’s really kind of impossible for Doctor Strange to know and guide the entire universe to a victorious scenario. Maybe the one situation that led to an Avengers victory simply starts with Thanos getting the Time Stone.  Maybe Doctor Strange is essentially throwing up a Hail Mary to stop him. Stark may have nothing to do with the outcome, but the important thing is that the Avengers have the chance to figure things out.

First time quoting myself so quick shout out to me for that gem.

So, all of this is to say that we figure time travel and/or inter-dimensional travel is going to play a huge role in Avengers 4, right? But, why does it matter? When has Thanos ever appeared vulnerable? Even before he had all of the Infinity Stones, he was unbeatable!

People act like the Avengers are going to just hop back in time and pop the bastard like it’s nothing. But, it’s not going to be easy. Nothing we’ve seen so far in this saga should indicate that Thanos is going to be easy to defeat. But……BUT…hang on now…there is one solitary second that showed a sliver of weakness in the Mad Titan.

In a way, Thanos has already told us how to defeat him.

When Thor comes barreling through the sky and chucks Stormbreaker right into Thanos’ chest, he looks at Thor and utters, “you should’ve aimed for the head.”

So, boom – figure out the time travel shit, go back to that moment, and have the God of Thunder split Thanos’ head open like a got dang watermelon. Thanos told him so. Problem solved.

As you were.
