Let’s be real, there’s a whole lot of Titans fans who have been calling Kevin Dodd a bust for a couple of years now. But, I’m the type of dude who gives a guy a million chances to prove me wrong. New head coach who is a legendary linebacker? Maybe this is what he finally needs to reach his potential. As far as we know, he’s healthy. So, now is the time to show us just why the Titans invested a second round pick (the 33rd overall) in him.

Or, he could just not show up for voluntary practices in an offseason where he absolutely needs every chance he can get to improve his standing with the team. We don’t really know why he has been absent, but Titans world is mad online nonetheless. And, really – this is a bad look for a guy who has had every chance to show up and show out.
I know he’s incurred several injuries, and maybe it’s not truly fair to hold it all against him. But, there’s been some questions about his work ethic and effort level in the past. Remember when Mike Mularkey was throwing shade at him? Basically saying he wasn’t as hurt as everyone thought, and he could’ve practiced if he wanted to? Someone who remembers this better than I do can refresh us.
But, the point is, the guy’s been hurt a lot, hasn’t been productive when he has been healthy (12 tackles, one sack in two seasons), and has faced a lot of doubt about his work ethic. All of this and he was a second round pick. If the clock hasn’t run out on Dodd, this certainly has to be one of the last straws. I expect the 2018 season will be his final chance, and I don’t know that he gets that if Mike Mularkey is still the coach.
Is it fair to call him a bust? I say give him 2018 to cement that status, but it sure is looking like it.
