Breaking News: Titans/Oilers 1982 Draft Regraded to B+

Dan Cotton recently regraded the 2015 Tennessee Titans draft class to be a D- for 247Sports. Presumably because it’s May and there’s nothing else to write about. So, we figured we’d get in on the nonsensical regrading of old draft classes, too. Namely, that now infamous 1982 class.

It’s hard for me to recall this draft class as it happened…because I wasn’t born until 1986. But, no matter. LFG.

Regrading the 1982 Titans (err….Oilers) Draft

Rd. 1: G Mike Munchak – It’s a no-brainer. We can definitely look back on this pick now that Munchak is in the fucking Pro Football Hall of Fame and say, “this was a good call.” But, nine Pro Bowls, four All-Pros, and a spot on the 80s All-Decade team will do it.

Rd. 2: QB Oliver Luck – Didn’t pan out as a starting quarterback but served as a capable backup to Warren Moon once he was drafted.

Rd. 3: RB Stan Edwards – The Oilers got a solid five years out of Edwards, and he even carried the ball a few times over the course of that five years. How ’bout that?

Rd. 3: LB Robert Abraham – Abraham played linebacker, and that’s about all his Wikipedia page says.

Rd. 4: WR Steve Bryant – five uneventful seasons as a receiver, but hey – the guy won over $16K on a game show, so that’s an immediate A+ selection in my book.

Rd. 5: DE Malcolm Taylor – Five and a half sacks in three years with the Oilers. BUT – technically those sacks came in years two and three since he didn’t play as a rookie…sooooooo….

Rd. 6: RB Gary Allen – He played eight games for the Oilers and was then waived. But, we can confirm they did have him for those eight games.

Rd. 9: LB Matt Bradley – LB Matt Bradley was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the 9th round of the 1982 NFL Draft.

Rd. 10: QB Ron Reeves – Dang, this guy was released after the SECOND game of his rookie season.

Rd. 11: Jim Campbell – I have to report that I cannot find this Jim Campbell on the Internet.

Rd. 12: RB Donnie Craft – A RB that lasted three seasons has to be a steal at this point, right? I mean, I can’t find anything that he did online, but he did last three seasons.

Overall: Gotta give this class a B+ – awesome group of football players and a dude that won a game show. Can’t beat that.
