The 2018 NFL Draft takes place April 26-28 this year, and as it stands, the Tennessee Titans have one first round draft pick. General manager Jon Robinson and first year head coach Mike Vrabel currently hold the 25th overall selection. Over the next few weeks, your boy “Big Natural” Stoney Keeley will be taking a look at some of the prospects who are either rumored to be tied to or who make sense for the Titans.
Josh Sweat’s name is soaring up draft boards in connection with the Titans. By now, it’s certainly no secret that the team will be looking to add a pass rusher, presumably early on, in next week’s draft. Pair that with the fact that the Titans actually visited with Sweat recently, and the rumors are swirling. It’s draft season, lest we forget. Rumors are going to spiral out of just about everywhere.
I sat down with Jake Arthur of Stampede Blue last week to talk about the NFL Draft, the state of the AFC South, and more on an episode of SoBros Sports Night. Sweat’s name definitely came up in the discussion, which you can listen to here:
You watch the highlights of Sweat and you’re immediately blown away by his ability to generate straight-line speed and blow right past (or right through) offensive linemen. The guy’s 6’4″ and 251 pounds, and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash. He has all the athletic qualities you look for in a freak pass rusher. Sweat just needs someone to work with him and develop a robust pass rush toolkit.
Overall, he’s a little raw and he does come with some injury concern regarding his knee, but it just so happens that the one thing he does extremely well is the one thing the Titans desperately need on defense.
