This is so Spielberg. He’s the maestro of movie magic & proves it once again with this incredibly imaginative, vibrant virtual reality blockbuster that’s buried in piles of pop culture. Even if the connection to the people and their avatars is a little loose, leaving a feeling of being more entranced than engaged—the adventure is well worth it. It’s a nostalgic thrill ride that’s fun, frenetic, and visually spectacular. Very few directors are able to bring out the kid in all of us, but Spielberg has been doing just that for decades and enjoying it each and every time.
