Carden Corts Is Coming for the Crown of Nashville’s Greatest Meteorologist

We all know Lelan Statom is essentially The Godfather of current Nashville meteorology. But, he operates as almost an omnipotent being – like, everyone understands that Statom is “the guy,” and no one messes with that. Factor in Nashville veterans Davis Nolan and Lisa Spencer, and you almost have this shadow tribunal of meteorologists. Everyone loves them, and they’ve all become staples of Nashville.

But, like great warriors and conquerors used to joust in front of Kings and Queens, and in front of spectators at Medieval Times, there’s always been one shining knight who stood out among all the rest. One person that even The Shadow Tribunal of Nashville Weather could not contain. One person who the entire city rallies around – their champion. The Champion of Nashville Weather.

Last Summer, WSMV shook up the Nashville meteorology scene when they completely botched the handling of charismatic superstar Paul Heggen, the once Champion of Nashville Weather. Evenings, weekends, and weekday fill-in slots could not contain his sexual electricity, so he bolted for Raleigh and a station that actually seems to appreciate him. Since then, Nashville has been without its champion.

Personally, we, as a brand, have switched to WKRN. Our guy “The Plush” Jared Plushnick has become a strong contender to become Nashville’s champion. Of course, we’ll always have a soft spot for #CONFIRMED cool dude Dan Thomas. And, we have to mention Danielle Breezy in the discussion as well. But, we’re waiting for the right time to determine a champion in definitive nature.

And, I’m here to tell you, folks – that day has been further delayed with the arrival of Carden Corts to the Nashville meteorology scene.

Done. R.I.P. other Nashville meteorologists. Y’all might as well call it a career. Plush, it’s been fun, buddy. I can already picture The Shadow Tribunal of Nashville Weather discussing plans to sabotage this young man so that their careers are never threatened. Lelan Statom knocking on the door offering Carden’s parents $10 million to get him reporting sports or something.

This is just pure charisma. I’m not even sure that Heggen could hang with Corts’ ability to make the weather fun. Pokemon cards? I never heard that on WSMV. I’ve never seen any of these guys stand in the middle of a hurricane like that. Corts is witty. He’s charming. He’s heroic. All the classic traits you look for in a strong meteorologist. Folks, there is a new contender for the crown.

This kid is a weather prodigy and if I’m a meteorologist in Nashville, I’m dusting up the ol’ resume now. Been nice knowin’ y’all.
