Mr. Rogers Had an Underrated Fashion Fastball

Mr. Rogers would’ve turned 90 years old today. Wow. Crazy to think about how many lives were influenced because of this one man who preached traditional values of friendship, unconditional love, and acceptance. I mean, you don’t want to throw the ‘S’ word around loosely, but Mr. Rogers is as close to a saint as it gets without literally being one. Well, today folks, we’ve been delivered a Mr. Rogers take that we’d never even stopped to think about.

Shout out to our friend, “The Plush” Jared Plushnick for passing this along:

Maaaaaaan, who knew Mr. Rogers was such a SAVAGE at the wardrobe?!?! “Fashion forward” doesn’t even cut it. The man knew, decades ago, what classic fashion was all about. That classic fashion that just never goes out of style. You could plug that outfit right out of 1970s era Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, plug into current East Nashville culture, and be the trendiest man in town. It’s just amazing.

The sock tie. THE SOCK TIE. I haven’t seen a good sock tie in years. It’s hard to pull off, and there are few men who have been given the gift to be able to do so. The sock tie just exudes comfort and confidence. You see a man rocking a sock tie, and you just know he loves himself enough to love you wholly and completely. The sock tie, in and of itself, IS the definition of a fashion fastball.

You don’t want to assume anything about such a nice man, so I’ll have to say this very carefully. Should he have elected to live such a lifestyle instead of the one he led, Mr. Rogers would’ve been swimming in sexual activity.

It’s a nice way of saying, “them drawers would be dropping at an alarming rate.”

As a child, I appreciated the message that Mr. Rogers presented. Now, as a grown ass man, I appreciate the legacy of one of the most underrated fashion fastballs in television history.

Legend.
