Titans Draft Roundup: 2018 Debut Edition

Welcome to the weekly Tennessee Titans draft roundup for the 2018 NFL Draft. Over the course of the next several weeks, I’ll be releasing this column once a week with my very professional journalism opinions. You’ll find everything from rumors to wild speculation to actual analysis (sometimes). Titan up!

Alright, debut edition here, folks. I’m more than excited for draft season and losing multiple hours of sleep each night trying to keep track of everything that’s going on. The Titans are in a pretty unique position this year.

The team has pretty well sucked for so long that we’re not used to seeing them pick in the low 20s. This year, they’re picking at #25 in the first round. Fret not, though – historically speaking, there have been some solid picks go at that spot.

As for what you can expect from this piece moving forward, well, it’s going to be a notebook-style feature. I’ll address rumors, prospects I have my eye on, and team needs each week. We might even have some fun, too.

Let’s dig in, shall we?

*The Titans will have six picks in this year’s draft (at the moment):

1st round – 25th overall
2nd round – 57th overall
3rd round – 89th overall
4th round – 125th overall
5th round – 162nd overall
6th round – 199th overall

*Obviously, we’ll know more about specific team needs from the draft once free agency has come and gone. There’s so much that could happen between now and then – between current players entering free agency, new ones coming to the Titans. You can review my initial thoughts on the team’s offseason needs here.

*Heading into draft season, the preeminent favorite in mock drafts is Harold Landry, the DE/OLB from Boston College. Honestly, haven’t watched much of him yet, but he’s #1 on my scouting list. LOL….like I have an official scouting list. Regardless, Landry killed it at the Combine, so many are expecting he won’t be available at #25 anyway.

*It’s a good class of running backs and linebackers – two areas of need for the Titans.

*Curious to see how Jon Robinson’s suit game evolves over the course of the next several months. In case you missed it, he possesses one hell of a fashion fastball.

*One thing we know for sure is that Mel Kiper, Jr. is bat shit crazy if he thinks the Titans are going to draft Ronald Jones in the first round.

*It may be my MTSU bias speaking out (Harvard of the South, y’all), but I would absolutely love to see Richie James added to this Titans wide receiving corps.

That’s all I have this week. Talk to y’all next Wednesday.
