GTFOH Todd McShay

You know – I really hate to be that guy. You know. The guy that rambles on about how the national media doesn’t paint an accurate picture of the Tennessee Titans. I’m always critical of people for that. But, between Mel Kiper, Jr. losing his damn mind and now Todd McShay, I’m beginning to think there’s a case for it. At least Kiper was right about the Titans needing a running back. But, McShay is just WAY out in left field on this one.

Todd McShay has released a new 2018 NFL mock draft (In$ider) following the NFL combine. He is doubling down on the Titans taking Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State. Here is McShay’s reasoning for the pick:

It isn’t a terrific tight end group this year, but Goedert is the best one in this class. He’s still a little underrated and didn’t get a chance to shine at the Senior Bowl or combine because of injury. His pro day will be important. You don’t get too many two-way TEs coming out of college, but Goedert fits the bill. He’s got a big frame (6-4, 260) with good speed and can play in-line or detached.

Jimmy’s right about this one – Todd McShay is doubling down on stupid. Complete lunacy. So, I don’t care if Goedert is the best tight end in this class. Unless he’s the second coming of Rob Gronkowski…and he’s not…then there’s no reason whatsoever for the Titans to pick a tight end in the first round.

One, they have greater needs at DE/OLB, interior offensive line, RB, and ILB. They could use some safety depth, maybe another corner, and a backup quarterback -ALL- before they’d need a tight end.

Two, Delanie Walker is one of the best tight ends in the game! Sure, he’s getting a little long in the tooth by football standards. But, let’s not act like the wheels fell off in 2017. This guy still has some juice in the tank. Besides that, they drafted Jonnu Smith last year, and he showed flashes of immense potential during his rookie year. His comparison throughout the draft process? Delanie Walker. Hell, they just exercised the option on Luke Stocker this morning.

The Titans are set at tight end. Anyone who’s so much as looked at a Titans box score this season should know that a tight end in the first round is completely insane.

GTFOH Todd McShay.
