Marc Gasol Has Had It With the Grizzlies Sucking This Season

I think it’s safe to say the Memphis Grizzlies won’t be making it to the NBA Playoffs this year. At 18-42, they suck worse than they have in several years. In fact, they were on a run of SEVEN straight years with a postseason appearance. Undoubtedly, the prime era of #GrindCity basketball. But this year, the wheels have completely fallen off, and Marc Gasol is fed up with it.

The Grizzlies have lost 10 games in a row — somehow not their longest losing streak of the season — and are now 18-41, which is the third-worst record in the West. Only the MagicKingsHawks and Suns have more losses on the season. Things are looking good for the Grizz in terms of getting a top-five pick in this loaded draft, but the recent downturn has taken a toll on the veterans, especially Marc Gasol.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Gasol voiced his frustrations with the team’s play lately. Via The Commercial Appeal:

“It’s not about somebody playing well or getting your reps or developing players. Because we have a league for that. We have a league and a team here in Memphis to develop guys. This is the NBA, not the G League.”

Okay then. Just go on and drop the hammer on your teammates, why don’t you, Marc? Ten losses in a row will do that to a man…especially if it’s not even the first time they’ve lost ten in a row this season. Folks, that’s a bad basketball team, and it has to be frustrating.

Does anyone blame Gasol, though? I mean, all this guy has known is success in Memphis. At least, making the playoffs…but definitely never having a season like this where the Grizzlies are lucky to have the Kings in their division.

All in all, he’s probably hoping to motivate some of these guys to step up and #BeBetter. But, they’re going to get Mike Conley back next year. It sure looks like they’re going to get a prime draft pick. This is a team that shouldn’t be too far away once the pieces are back in place.
