Your Annual Reminder That Titans Fans Want Every Available Free Agent

I don’t even know why I do this post anymore, but I do…every year. I’m just trying to make Titans Facebook a little bit better of a place. There seems to be a problem with Titans fans clinging on to potential free agents and wishing every single one would come play in Music City. To be fair, this problem could exist outside of our fan base. I’m not apart of any other, so I wouldn’t know. But, it definitely exists right here in Nashville.

Thankfully, this year isn’t as bad. Everyone seems preoccupied with obsessing over the new uniforms. I get it – it’s an exciting thing that doesn’t come around too often. Uniforms are evolving and, in 2018, what the teams wear is a huge draw for people. Just look at the interest the Oregon Ducks have stirred up over the last decade.

But, I’m still seeing my news feed littered with, “Titans should go after [INSERT FREE AGENT NAME].” It’s just a tad ridiculous.

Every time I log into Facebook at this time of the year, I close my eyes and think, “please don’t let me see some absurd free agent wish” regarding the Titans. But, usually, I do. And, listen – I love my fellow Titans fans. This fan base has a unique bond in that we live in the greatest city in the universe. I’ll say it. But, this madness has to stop.

I’m a member of several different fan groups. At any given moment, you might see a dozen free agent and/or trade wishes. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that I could log in right now and I’d see something that would have me rolling my eyes.

People were clamoring for a trade for Marcus Peters – a guy who fights his own teammates. Do the Titans need another player in the secondary? Yeah, sure! But, do you risk negatively effecting the chemistry of the defense by bringing in a guy who throws flags into the crowd? No.

Next was Jarvis Landry, who will catch about 1,000 balls for 140 yards, and command a ton of money for it. Boy, was Titans Facebook rumbling when it was announced he was on the trading block. But, the Titans definitely don’t need his skill set at the position, and honestly, I’ll take Rishard Matthews and be just fine with it. Since Landry got slapped with the franchise tag, this nonsense has thankfully died down.

People talkin’ about busted ass Doug Martin coming here? No thanks. Lot of running back talent in this draft. Dion Lewis probably isn’t worth the money he’ll be asking for.

Guard Andrew Norwell has been a popular target of interest, but that guy is going to get P-A-I-D. He’s one of the best interior linemen in the league, and I just don’t see the Titans giving up the farm to bring him in. Same with fellow Panther Star Lotulelei, just not to the degree of Norwell.

Full disclosure – I will hear your arguments for Jerick McKinnon, though.

All in all, the Titans are not going to sign Le’Veon Bell or Kirk Cousins. Let’s just be smarter, people. Stop this madness. I don’t know how to put it any plainer: NOT EVERY PLAYER THAT HITS FREE AGENCY IS ATTAINABLE NOR WOULD THEY EVEN BE A GOOD FIT WITH THE TITANS.

You want to talk about deep draft steals? Let’s do it. Otherwise, I’m tuning this shit out.
