Black Panther May Have Shown Us the Last Undiscovered Infinity Stone

First things first, I have to give y’all fair warning. There are tons of Black Panther spoilers within this speculative piece. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you have until the other side of this awesome photo of Josh Brolin as Thanos to GTFO. This post could very well ruin the movie for you.

Okay, you made it to the other side. Let’s hash this bitch out.

We all know this was the last stop before the circus that is Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters. It’s safe to say everyone was also expecting to see the last remaining undiscovered Infinity Stone. And, yes – it does appear that we’ll see all six in the MCU. At one point, people started thinking there might just not be six stones in the movies, but after re-watching Thor: The Dark World, you’ll remember in the mid-credit scene, The Collector states, “one down, five to go,” implying we will in fact get all six stones in the movies.

But, before we dive into the missing stone, let’s recap where all of the Infinity Stones currently reside in the MCU.

The Tesseract (Space Stone) – You guessed it…the Space Stone allows one to traverse space. Last we saw it, Loki snatched it up at the end of Thor: Ragnarok.

The Aether (Reality Stone) – That red liquid shit that engulfed Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World apparently warps matter into dark matter. The Collector has this one.

The Orb (Power Stone) – Enough power to destroy an entire planet. One person can’t touch it, hence the reason Ronan had to put that bitch in his war hammer in Guardians of the Galaxy. The Nova Corps is protecting the power stone.

Vision’s Face (Mind Stone) – Pretty simple one here, too. The Mind Stone gives you the power to control minds. It’s in Vision’s forehead, but as we saw in the Infinity War trailer, doesn’t look like it’ll stay that way.

The Eye of Agamotto (Time Stone) – The Time Stone is pretty sick, as we saw Doctor Strange do some wild stuff with it, but essentially it gives you the power to control time. Doctor Strange left it at Kamar-Taj last we saw it.

Now, this is where we were before Black Panther. And, while nothing was held up and blatantly proclaimed to be an Infinity Stone, we still may have seen the Soul Stone in Wakanda itself.

First, what exactly does the Soul Stone do?

In and of itself, the Soul Stone is a gateway to another universe where things are all happy and shiny. It can also control the souls of all beings, alive or dead. So, yeah – like the others. It’s pretty powerful.

But, one thing I just mentioned should catch your eye particularly. I FOUND A CLUE, Y’ALL!

In Black Panther, T’Challa and Erik Killmonger both travel to a place called the ancestral plane upon earning the mantle of Black Panther. It’s not an outright utopia, but it’s close enough of an adaptation of the comics to draw questions.

Plus, it’s established in Black Panther that vibranium, the unique metal created and housed in Wakanda, has restorative properties that allow people to heal quickly. Plain and simple, it has supernatural properties.

Is it possible that the original meteorite that crashed into Africa and eventually created Wakanda was the actual Soul Stone? And, now the Soul Stone is flowing all throughout Wakanda?

We know that in the Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos takes his fight to Wakanda. While it’s possible he realizes the Wakandans are the most serious threat to his invasion, it’s also possible he’s wrapping up his Infinity Stone collection, and the last one lies within Wakanda.

I’m placing my bet – vibranium is the Soul Stone.
