Yamaha YZ65: Decades Later, Childhood Dreams Come True

Not sure if it was the letters I wrote over 20 years ago to Yamaha headquarters, or to Santa Claus, but someone finally got the dang memo:  a Yamaha YZ65!!!!  That’s right, the blue crew finally pulled the trigger and brought out a new option for the next generation of riders.

Am I sad this wasn’t made in the 90s?  Absolutely.  But, am I stoked that kids now have the option I didn’t?  Yes.  If I have a kid, will I steal this bike from them?  Also, yes.

Yamaha may have taken their sweet time bringing this bike to market, but I really think they’ve put together a solid machine.  One detail in particular is their mechanical power valve that will help kids make the transition to a peppy two-stroke without having to keep the revs high at all times.  This means better learning for the kids, and fewer spark plugs to change for the parents.

See more about this new model on Yamaha’s website.  And here’s to hoping the new YZ65 can increase the retention rate of loyal Blue riders as they progress through the ranks!!
