Real Men of Genius: Painting Lines on the Road to Make Your Commute Easier
Y’all remember those Bud Light commercials? Real men of genius? Man, if that was still a thing, they would have quite the story to share today.
Traffic is one of the biggest stressors in our lives. I would argue that it is probably the single greatest daily struggle to get through. You hear about road rage all the time. People honkin’ and swervin’ all over the place, making you late, UGH. I’m getting angry just thinking about it.
Well, one man in China, presumably fed up with all the time he’s wasted in traffic, decided, “fuck it – I’m just going to paint my own lanes on the road.”
A Chinese man has been fined after he was captured on surveillance footage painting new road signs in a bid to make his daily commute easier.
The Modern Express reports that a 28-year-old man surnamed Cai, was fined 1,000 yuan (£112; $151) in the eastern city of Lianyungang, Jiangsu province. He was captured on camera on 27 September with a can of white paint painting new arrows onto the road to redirect traffic, and told police it was the result of frustrations over the long delays on his daily bus journey to work.
“I saw that the straight lane was always packed with cars, while the lane that turns left has a lot of space,” he told the police.
“I thought changing the signs would make my commute smoother.”
Gotta love this man’s level of DGAF. I mean, he’s out there with no protection as traffic is swirling all around him. He could’ve maybe done this in the middle of the night when things were a little quiet, but nope. No, he had a statement to make. Nothing but respect.
Who cares that this is illegal? Who cares that he’s not a government official? You can see how much people really cared considering they were just driving around him.
This is a classic case of identifying a problem and solving it. Plain and simple. Kudos, Cai.
