Surfing Down a Ladder: Sounds Neat, Difficult to Execute

The Internet has allowed us to witness all sorts of zany antics that before would just be urban legends shared among friends. Maybe two or three people would be around to witness when you and your boys would be like, “what if we tried this?” Hopefully, you’d all live to tell the tale, but that was about it. The thrill was in being the only ones in on the secret, and building the legend yourselves. I saw this video of a dude surfing down a ladder, and I smiled a bit inside, thinking of all the wonderful memories made before the advent of video camcorders. Hopefully, you’ll do the same.

Radical dude

We’ve covered a lot of dumb ideas on this web site. I like to think we specialize in dumb ideas. But, this one is right up there with the best of ’em.

The way the guy started, I thought for a split second, “HOLY SHIT IT’S GOING TO WORK!” but nah….didn’t really pan out that way. It ended up with a leg caught in the ladder and a face bouncing off the ground.

Super impressed by this dude’s ability to get up and walk off a broken ankle, though. I mean, that’s the biggest danger here. It’s not smashing your face off the ground and living concussed for a few months. It’s slippin’ off that surfboard and cracking your leg in half.

But, I’m glad the thought of severe injury didn’t deter this guy from trying. If that was the case, then hell, what would anyone in history have ever accomplished? The world needs guys like this.
