The New York Giants Have Lost Their Freaking Minds, Benched Eli Manning

Some major breaking news coming out of the Big Apple today. The New York Giants, presumably head coach Ben McAdoo, has made the decision to bench Eli Manning. That’s right, folks. Geno Smith will man the ship against the Oakland Raiders.

The same Geno Smith who was punched by a teammate and the rest of the locker room celebrated. That’s the same Geno Smith who will invariably throw six picks on Sunday. It’s unbelievable.

The disrespect towards Manning, who is an unquestioned Hall of Famer, is staggering. The guy won two Super Bowls for your organization. He is the Patriot killer. But, most importantly, he is the absolute LAST reason that the Giants are struggling.

The team has lost virtually every playmaker it had. They may as well have tackling cones for an offensive line. There’s no run game whatsoever. The offense is just atrocious and has put the defense in disadvantageous positions ALL. SEASON. LONG. The fact that Manning is being used as a scapegoat for this 2-9 season is an outright indictment of this coaching staff.

That is downright hard to watch. I can’t imagine.

The only just reason I can conceive of for this move is that the Giants understand that this season is completely lost and they, knowing Manning is a little long in the tooth, are trying to preserve the career he has left. But, I don’t think that’s a winning mentality for the organization, and if I’m the owner/GM/whoever it takes, regardless of the reason, I’m canning McAdoo’s ass faster than he can say ‘go.’ This is just absurd.

The best analysis of this move?

Hot damn, people. Be sure to start the Oakland Raiders defense/special teams this week. Yikes.
