SoBros Scary Stories: Molly And I Are Friends

As a part of our Halloween 2017 coverage, we’ve decided to open up a bit of our personal lives, and share some scary stories. These are full on eye witness accounts of spooky occurrences. So, get your popcorn ready. Feel free to pull these stories out around the campfire, too.

Savannah, Georgia is a beautiful city, but also one of the most haunted ones in America. I was there over a year ago now, and one of the things my girlfriend and I had to do was a haunted tour. It was a walking one and didn’t even start until 10 pm—-waaaaaaaay past our bedtime. Yes, we have a bedtime on vacation as well. I’m thirty.

The tour was pretty cool. Everything is much spookier at night, and I personally kept looking up at the windows of these different places hoping to catch a spirit. No luck, but my girlfriend will tell you she saw a ghost behind one of the gates to a house. I didn’t see that; instead, I saw a man who I guessed was the maintenance guy who was a prankster—or a creeper. But shit got real once we made it to the end of the tour. We’re in this little alley way with several different buildings surrounding us, and she tells us this story about Molly.

Molly was a slave that was sexually assaulted by the master of the house. The details are a little fuzzy, but I believe others had found out including his wife, and so she was found dead by hanging in her room. What looked to be a suicide is believed to not have been one at all. Whether it was the master or someone he knew, there seemed to be a consensus that she was murdered. The biggest hint was the “suicide note” because it didn’t reflect at all of who she was and how literate she actually became. Anyways, apparently since then—she’s never left her room.

Our guide announces that Molly’s room is open to go in if any of us are up for it. Usually, this isn’t apart of our tour, so what a treat! I’m the only one who decides to go up there. YOLO! As I walk up to her room, I’m thinking there will be lights on, but I was wrong. Our guide walks in to her room and basically asks permission for us to enter. With the story running through my mind, I decide I’ll just stand at the doorway and look around. If Molly gets pissed, she’ll probably come for the guide before me and I’m quick when it comes to running downstairs.

It’s only a few minutes and I’m good to go. And while we’re thanking Molly for letting us enter, there’s this beeping sound echoing in the room. I have no idea what it is, but as we’re heading back downstairs, a few other employees run past us back up to the room. I find out the beeping is coming from a sensory machine that goes off when something gets too close. Well I can tell you this for certain, the guide and me weren’t that damn close!

It’s a chilling feeling knowing something truly may exist and you might just have looked them in their soulless eyes. Our guide told me that it was interesting I chose not to actually step inside Molly’s room because the last man to ever be in there with her…killed her.

Gulp.
