Julian Edelman and Stephon Gilmore Are Ejected From Practice for Fighting – Also of Note, They Are on the Same Team

The dog days of Summer are here, and NFL training camps have kicked off all over the country. After the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, the New England Patriots will set out to defend their title in 2017. But, for Julian Edelman, the real season’s starting early!

Stephon Gilmore and Julian Edelman appeared to have a flashback to when they were AFC East rivals during Tuesday’s training camp practice at Gillette Stadium.

The two teammates began fighting after Jacoby Brissett threw a pass to Edelman, who was tightly covered by Gilmore. Edelman appeared frustrated by Gilmore’s handsy play. Gilmore shoved Edelman, and Edelman threw Gilmore to the ground. Edelman then pounced on Gilmore, and a wrestling match ensued.

They were both immediately ejected from practice.

I’m sorry, was anyone still wondering how feisty Edelman is? Didn’t we establish this like, years ago? Anyway, there’s nothing like teammates going at it in August to remind you that football is back.

It’s hard to place blame in this situation with so little details emerging. Initially, one would think Edelman probably mouthed off to Gilmore and away we go. But, maybe Brissett is to blame here. He’s the one who threw the ball into tight coverage. He probably knew what was going to happen here.

Or, hey, maybe this is all on Gilmore. I don’t know much about him other than he’s a great player. We don’t get many Buffalo Bills games down here in Nashville, so excuse my ignorance.

But, don’t act like it’s not easy to believe Edelman said something that got under Gilmore’s skin.

I’m also going to need some clarity on exactly what ‘handsy’ means. Like, was he grabbing and pulling jersey and/or hair? Or, was there a little bit of Clemson butthole poking going on? It’s tough to say and could definitely make a difference in a story like this.

Regardless, I love it – aggressive and passionate of both parties. I feel like there are a lot of people out there who appreciate this as a football philosophy and also as a love-making practice. I think most people want a lover who comes alive with desire and occasionally jolts the bones.

So, here’s yet another reminder that Julian Edelman checks all the boxes.
