An all time classic. I don’t think this video gets the recognition it deserves. And, it’s really the perfect way for you to head into your weekend. Is it old news? Yes. But, just last week, I posted an eight year old video of a goat huffing and puffing at a human. So, if you came here for some sort of semblance of legitimacy, you’re in the wrong place, buddy. This is The SoBros Network.
But, let’s break it down – what are the key components of a good viral video? Funny, shocking, mind-boggling…..a rare combination of all of these things, or just excellence in one of these traits. Those are usually the things we really see crawl the internet and end up on morning shows. And, that’s what we have here.
Set to the tune of one of the MOST LIT anthems of all time, it’s funny. Then, once you make it through the initial burst of laughter, you’re like, “Got damn. I miss the days when hip hop was CRUNK.” So, it brings back fond memories of yesteryear, too.
And, the technical acumen it took to pull this off? Geeeeeeez – you have no choice but to respect it. That had to have been a full plate of work.
Plus, there’s several angles to break down, several characters to admire – these are also significant factors in a viral video. Who’s the real show stealer in this one?
This dude just sittin’ in the back bobbin’ his head to the beat. If this situation were to break out in real life…well, first of all, I’d have to ask what in the rightful fuck you were doing in a Chuck-E-Cheese or whatever as a grown adult….but then, I’d say, “you know, this chicken/bird/thing is all of us in this scenario.” Just enjoying the chaos, the music moving our bodies.
Now, is this video at the level of the Mobile Leprechaun video? No, I don’t think so. In your boy Big Natural’s opinion, that’s still the G.O.A.T. viral video, with Antoine Dodson coming in 2nd, and Charlie Bit My Finger coming in 3rd.
But, animatronic “Pop, Lock, and Drop It” deserves its rightful place in the upper echelon of internet videos. Have a good weekend, y’all.
